Women Empowerment Projects

Yesterday, Angeline Jeevachandran had the privilege of visiting a few incredible women-led projects supported by Anbaalayam through interest-free loans — and left deeply moved by the strength, resilience, and determination of these women.
One remarkable woman started a tailoring business with just a sewing machine and some materials. Today, she employs another woman, has won awards for her work, and is already planning her next steps for growth.
Three women purchase cooking equipment, launching a food business that now sustains their families.
Two more invested in livestock — goats and cows — building a sustainable source of income for their households.
Each of them spoke with pride and purpose about their journey and how Anbaalayam’s support helped them carve a better path for their children and families.
While there, Angeline also had the chance to handover a bicycle kindly donated by Nagarajah Muralitharan to a young student who commutes over 2 km each way to attend school. He lost his father, and we hope this small gesture helps lighten his burden and encourages him to keep moving forward.
A heartfelt thank you to Nesan, Kumaran, and members of Kaviya (Rathy, Ruby & Christy)a Self Development Women Centre, the incredible local NGO that implements and monitors these projects on behalf of Anbaalayam. Your dedication on the ground is what truly makes this work meaningful.
